Kuala Lumpur club instructors
Mr Leong Chock Lim, sensei (8th Dan Jujutsu)
Leong sensei started learning jujutsu in 1979, and was a personal student of Professor Kam from 1985 up to his passing in 1990. He continues to lead the senior belt classes today. He was graded to nidan (2 Dan)
with Honours in 1988 and ‘Master Dan and Kuatsu Specialist’ in 1990.
Leong sensei continues the practice of Kuatsu, and has been regularly treating patients for over 20 years. He is one of only a handful of people in the world with specialist kuatsu knowledge. He has honed this skill with many years of dedication, research and experience. He specialises in physical ailments such as backaches, migranes, sports injuries or other injuries related to today's sedentary lifestyle.
Professor Kam was regarded as a legendary healer throughout Malaysia, famed for being able to mend even broken bones. Leong sensei was one of Professor Kam's most loyal students. He accompanied him on long interstate journeys as they made house calls together to learn the healing art of kuatsu.
When Leong sensei first approached Professor Kam to join his class, he was rejected and told to go home. Young and determined Leong persisted for weeks till Professor Kam decided to accept this new student. Thankfully, we’re not so strict today.“Practising Kuatsu is like training Jujutsu, it improves with practice and dedication. Improving in Kuatsu improves your jujutsu. There is an infinite amount of knowledge that you learn and improve with practice. I feel like I have not even started my Kuatsu journey”. – Leong sensei
Mr Michael Lui, sensei (3rd Dan Jujutsu)
Michael sensei has been training in Kano Jujutsu for over 15 years. He is a direct student
of Perera soke and Leong sensei. Michael was one of the first new students to commence classes in Malaysia following the passing of Professor Kam. He was awarded his black belt by Errol soke in May 2000.
Michael has travelled overseas to attend seminars and improve his knowledge and
understanding of the art of jujutsu. Michael sensei conducts the junior ( kyu ) classes on
Mondays and Wednesdays.
“Mastery is practice…practice is mastery, regardless
of your ranking. Absorb the history and lineage of Kano Jujutsu and your training
and journey of understanding will be fruitful” .
